NJ Leads the Way

NJ has posted some of the best scores in the USA on its statewide tests and in a national writing test for eighth graders. Public Schools work! NJ also boasts a high number of students taking and passing college level 'AP' courses, giving many students college credit.

Tests are not the only way of measuring student achievement. We need to remember that it is not all about the tests, and be very vigilant of making students' educational experiences the best they can be. We need to make sure the students are all fully immersed in the material being taught so they will internalize it forever, not just the time needed to pass a test. We can do it! We need to do it because our country will not be able to remain a world power without our citizens receiving a thorough and efficient education.

This post is part of the MAT@USC Hope for the Holidays event. Did you have an experience or witness something in 2009 that gave you hope for the future of American education? If so, see this post for more information on how to share it.
